A deep fake video of the Bollywood actress Kajol Mukherjee has been surfacing online. The videos rise the concerns about the ethical implications of the deep fake technology. There has been a major shift on the internet in the past month witnessing increase in the deep fake video of Kajol that has gone viral on many social media platforms that blurs the recognition of reality and fiction.
According to the fact check on the platform BOOM the real video is of a social media influencer and the face of the Bollywood actress was inserted in the footage digitally. The video that was manipulated briefly shows the original woman’s face. According to the report the original video put up on 5th June on TikTok on the GRWM (Get Ready with Me) trend.
The similar incident has taken place previously with deep fake content involving the Bollywood celebrities like Katrina Kaif and Rashmika Mandanna. Ramshmika became a victim of a very unsettling deep fake video. Katrina Kaif faced an image altered digitally from her upcoming movie ‘Tiger 3’ sparking the great discussion on the impact of deep fakes on privacy and reputation.
