Date for election in Pakistan has been decided after several delays

The national elections in Pakistan. Initially delayed are scheduled for February 8, 2024. as confirmed by the electoral commission on Thursday. This decision was reached during a meeting. between President Arif Alvi and members of the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP). The ECP stated that the election date of Thursday, February 8, was unanimously agreed upon. Following the dissolution of parliament on August 9, a caretaker government has been in place, with the expectation that polls should have occurred within 90 days. However, the ECP cited the need for more time to redefine constituency boundaries based on the latest census. This announcement comes after the Supreme Court ordered. The ECP and President Alvi are to agree on a date before the next court hearing on Friday, following multiple challenges to the delay.
