Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez shares a pro-Palestine message on Instagram

The make up brand by Selena Gomez, called ‘Rare beauty’ shared a pro-Palestine message on their Instagram after she was back lashed for a half-hearted post on the issue and she threatened to delete Instagram. The singer shared a short message of her own last week that said ‘we need to protect ALL people’ and adding ‘I wish I could change the world but a post won’t’.

Selena Gomez was thumped for not being able to speak up clearly and not giving a definitive statement on the matter and not responding on it too late. She threatened in a message to delete her Instagram on Monday in a post. The post said, ‘I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done and do not support any of what is going on’.

The pop star’s brand ‘Rare beauty’ has stepped in and clarified her stance. A maroon square was posted by Rare Beauty on Monday with the text ‘Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza’ written and a long caption that condemned the terror attack by Hamas on Israel on 7th of October and brutal killing of thousand of innocent Palestinian civilians. Rare Beauty wrote in the post ‘Thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians have been killed in the airstrikes by Israel and millions of civilians have been displaced and left without any access to medicine, water, food and basic necessities for survival’. The next slide said ‘A large number of victims in this are children. Palestinian civilians must be protected, period!’. It further added ‘We are heartbroken by the terrible attack on innocent civilians on 7th October, many of them were also children. There is no situation in which attacks on civilians are acceptable. We strongly denounce all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia’.

Gomez is the chairman and founder of Rare Beauty. It was also reported yesterday that she has put her name on a letter that was addressed to Joe Biden calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The letter was also signed by Jennifer Lopez and Gigi Hadid that said, ‘Dear President Biden, we come together as advocates and artists but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Palestine and Israel.
